Epilogue

It's been nearly two years since I wrote my last post. Checking my site's stats, I was surprised to see some decent traffic still hitting the site. So I wanted to send one last update on where I am and what I'm doing.

I've stayed out of non-profit. I've even stayed out of IT. I am a Product Manager for websites for a business-to-business publishing company. The work has been wonderful and my wife is still impressed that I'm so happy at work, especially after the 10 horrible months at that horrible non-profit. Despite the tough year ahead, I'm looking forward continuing to work in for-profit and the web.

For those of you giving your all to non-profits, I commend you and wish you the best. Continued good luck to everyone in everything.

Best,

Milind

  • I plan to work (unpaid) very soon at a non-profit to help my community. I would rather eat beans every day & live in peace than to work in the corporate world with all of its huge egos another day. The IT at my previous job tapped my home computer. This has all been very strange & I cannot believe one IT person could ruin another person (and family's) life. The IT before the last one quit & went to work as a missionary in an inner-city non-profit mission. Think he knew the people we were working for & he could take it no longer. He could not be happier now. He was a nice IT who everyone missed once he left. No one trusted the new one. He abused his position.

Sorry your experience in the non-profit world was hard. For me - it is great - only there is never any $$. There is a lot of politics involved so far as ever getting a local grant. It's not fair - but life is not fair. I try to just thank God for each day of life & try to help others.

Found your site while looking for IT jobs for my son - a laid off IT person.

Enjoy your twins. They are precious. Your family is the most important thing - never a job.

  • Hello,

hopefully you will get this message and reply back. I currently run a nonprofit (religous) and I am in post grad school considering a dissertation on IT and Nonprofits. Would you be willing to dialogue with me throughout the course of my studies so that I may gain knowledge from your perspective? In particular how IT is lacking in small nonprofits and resources are not enough to go around. I am interested in hearing from you. I am locking in your URL to my annotated bibliography in hopes of hearing from you. Thanks Nice set of twins you have there.

  • Hello F Stovall,

I would be happy to speak with you, however, I am not sure how helpful I will be since I have not been part of the non-profit world in some time. Still, if you would like to speak, please contact me by emailing me directly at manager@todayicried.com.

    Speak to you soon!
